I finally got word that the audiobook company declined producing Tempest and the last of the Ghost Bird books.
This happens a lot with traditional publishing, including audiobooks. Especially with super long series. But don’t panic! You can still listen to the books that haven’t been picked up.
Because of that, and to finish up both series, I am putting the ones not selected for audiobook production up on ElevenReader like the Meeting Sang Series. If you’re already using ElevenReader for listening, it’ll be included in the subscription, or if you just want to own the audiobook, it’s $4.99.
Why I Chose ElevenReader:
Audiobook voice actors get paid when you choose their voice, whether it’s Sir Michael Caine™ or Dr. Maya Angelou™, you can pick an iconic voice that fits your tastes. (For the Meeting Sang series, I was listening to Sir Laurence Olivier™ for a lot of voices when setting it up! He makes a great Mr. Blackbourne.)
You can also upload your own voices. You’ve got full control over how it sounds.
You can read the text alongside it. Follow along in the chapter itself as you read.
You can also talk to the book! You can ask questions about characters, plot details, and more while listening.
One day I may try to produce it like I have been starting to do for Melody over on YouTube (and then further distribute it.) It takes time to make each episode though so I want to start with ElevenReader so you all have access to Tempest and the other books right now and then take my time producing the rest. And I want to focus on finishing series first.
And… the voices vastly improved with V4 of ElevenReader voices. Like midway through Melody, on the next episode, you will be able to hear the difference. It’s so good. Mathias’ voice was melty before by now… be still my heart.
I am much, much slower and I have to pick voices I like for it. If you want your own chosen voice, and access faster, ElevenReader is where you want to be.
If you have a subscription, or are about to get one now, you can also get the entire Meeting Sang series, and Melody, with more coming soon. It’s also good if you have epub books or pdf files you want read back to you. (Hint hint, like you get from a lot of books you buy anywhere.) I get things read back to me all the time. It’s your time to choose the voice you’ve always wanted for the books you love.

An a personal note:
Also, I want to put this here. And I wasn’t sure where to put it.
My dad passed away a couple of weeks ago, and I am sure a few people heard about it, I just wanted to confirm. The funeral has been held and the whole family is finding a way to manage, especially as my mother passed away not long ago, too.
Ties Left Unsevered is in revisions currently, the book is still planning to be released as scheduled. I didn’t want anyone to worry.
I want to just acknowledge right now, if the ending doesn’t quite sound like me, what the potential cause might be now before being released. It’s a bit strange since we’re dealing with Kota’s father in this one. I’m not going to notice looking at it this closely, but I wanted to be up front. Not everyone will see this note, but you who reads all the way through (*you* are my favorite, by the way), you’ll know and that is all that matters.
And for the sake of it, usually for the holidays I open up the Etsy store. This year, I’d like to skip this once. I want to give myself the winter to heal, and then to come back in spring/summer with the shop open instead. And additional reasons: holiday printing times for books goes up drastically. We had books ordered in November last year that never got out until April. There’s no way to speed it up with the printers I have.
I want to skip that holiday mess and find a better system for the Etsy shop and signed books, and also figure out how to do international shipping again. So with that in mind, the Etsy shop will be staying closed for now to give myself time to heal and for my later self to figure out.
So if everyone can forgive the pause this year for it, I’ll open it again when I can. We might do a special one item only preorder for signed paperback/hardbacks of the new book separately. If I manage to get that together, I’ll post about it at the newsletter here.
Thank you everyone for your understanding!
